Biochemistry is the science dealing with the biochemical processes and reactions occuring inside the living cell. These reactions vary from pathways for creating energy upto pathways for synthesis and storage of proteins and hormones.

In the first year, you get an introduction of the structure of biochemically important substances such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. Then you learn important concepts in the structure and function of enzymes, vitamines, genetic material, and others. You start the 1st year by 'Physical Chemistry' a REALLY boring subject, but it does not have the taste of real biochemistry, so don't hate biochemistry for it.

In the second year, you learn important pathways such as Glycolosis, Kreb's cycle, fatty acid synthesis, synthesis of amino acids and their derivatives, etc. They are interesting if you dare to study!

Practical sections of biochemistry are really the easiest and simplest. Just make sure you attend.
