A trend?

It is a fact that a majority of medical students at Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine take private lessons in different subjects. This may be attributed to a 'habit' that probably developed during high school. Lack of self-contained capabilities of organizing, extracting and summarizing scientific facts is the main reason for this trend.

Are they necessary?

Although you will probably be advised by senior colleagues to take private lessons in many subjects, people never mention the dark side : the busy schedule. I have seen lots of people having private lessons in 4 subjects (1, 2 or even 3 times a week per subject). These guys would end up having upto 10 or 12 lessons per week which may average 1-2 lessons per day! This will definitely mean that they have to stop attending lectures and even practical sections, just for the sake of finding some time to attend private lessons, what about studying?

After a year passes by, some people are heard regretting taking lessons in some subjects. Others say they really needed the lessons. It differs among individuals, but a wise decision is the one that fits YOU most.
