About Pioneers

Pioneers is a leading activity-organising group located at Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

The Background
Let us elaborate, between parenthesis, about the system and methodolgy carried out in Egyptian Universities to perform extracurricular activities:

Activities are organized by the Youth Care Department (YCD), which is a subdivision of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, located in front of the Zamalek Club, Cairo. Each university has a Youth Care Department which organizes activity programs throughout the year covering cultural, social, sports activities and arts. The YCD allows groups of individuals to gather in 'activity groups' or 'families' through which they can perform their activities, under supervision and support from the YCD. This idea is similar to the activity 'clubs' in the AUC.

A family has an ordered system of administration that makes the coordination between its members. The structure of the family is as follows :

The Story
Pioneers started as a group of friends, most are medical students in the 3rd year, who decided to form an official group through which they can organize their extracurricular activities. Believing that fun is necessary for soul as food is necessary for the body, we launched the Pioneers on 25.11.1998.

The execution of an idea is not always as simple as one might think. Several procedures had to be made for the official registration of the family. First we had to search for a suitable Advisor and Vice Advisor. Then we had to carry on the legal procedures and finally we were officially registered on 16.12.1998

The first of our activities was a wonderful one-day vacation trip to Sakkara Palm Club. A pomenade organized by the family members and trigerring the start of our activity.
